U.S. stocks open higher ahead of Fed Chair Powell’s Jackson Hole speech


U.S. stocks opened higher Friday as investors wait for Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell to speak at the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium in Wyoming this morning. The Dow Jones Industrial Average

rose 0.4% soon after the opening bell, while the S&P 500

gained 0.4% and the Nasdaq Composite

increased 0.4%, according to FactSet data, at last check. Powell is scheduled to speak at the Jackson Hole event at 10:05 Eastern Time on Friday. Meanwhile, the yield on the two-year Treasury note was up about five basis points Friday morning at around 5.05%, while the 10-year Treasury yield edged up two basis points to about 4.25%, FactSet data show, at last check.
